Update From the Tour Operator (12 June 2011):

Kind of hard to believe that a month has already come and gone since our first two ships arrived on May 8th.  The weather has been fabulous the
last few days and our water temperature reflects that with a high of about 55 degrees or nearly 13 celsius. I know it still "sounds" cold but put on
one of our 7mm suits and you're so warm that the water is welcome relief from the heat!

There was an amazing Orca encounter for our Volendam tour on on Monday June 6th.  A very large pod of Orca's cruised by the site just about the
time everyone was getting out.  Most of the guests stood up on the rocks to watch the show as the whales passed within about 30' of shore right
near our entry / exit point.  One of my tour guides, Matt swam out to them and got within 20 feet of the huge male with a towering dorsal fin!  He
was in the middle of the pod with Orca's surfacing on either side of him but did not manage to see them underwater as I did two summers ago.

Our water clarity fluctuates daily but on average has been about 30' or 10 meters.  We have been getting a lot of excellent feedback from our mutual
guests about how amazing the snorkeling is in Alaska.  Everyone always thinks this is such a crazy tour but they are amazed how warm they are in
the water and what an abundance of marine life there is to be viewed.  The Mountain Point Snorkeling Adventure is often the highlight of a person's
entire cruise!

Hope to see you in the water very soon!

TOUR TESTIMONIALS

  • This far exceeded my expectations! I am a very cold natured person but in keeping with the Alaskan adventure spirit, decided on this excursion. It was barely cool after the first 5 minutes until the water warmed under the wetsuit. The gear was superb! Top of the line equipment that provided awesome views and carefree snorkeling. Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and experienced with every aspect of the experience. You have to try this!! E. Judkins

  • This excursion was outstanding. Our naturalist / guides were wonderfully knowledgeable & very accomodating to some in our group who needed extra help. They were truly gracious, helpful and fun. Highly recommended. Thanks!  Nancy P.

  • The entire excursion was extremely well run and very professional. They had an excellent supply of equipment including prescription masks which is really going above and beyond. The guides were knowledgeable and personable. A+ + excursion. Thank you!

  • This was so well organized, used every moment to inform people of how to put on suits, safety issues etc. Never felt unsafe, always had one or more guides checking on us. Informative especially because guides were so experienced, friendly and knowledgeable. Pat H.

  • This was the best. You couldn't ask for nicer guides. As beginners they took extra time special care with us. Amy worked with me and my daughter the whole time and brought us in early when my daughter got scared. Swimming with jellyfish and seeing sunflower stars, sea cucumbers, sea stars and anenomes was truly awesome. I would highly recommend this!  Pat W.
